Students who engage in rowdy or disciplined activities that cause or are likely to cause frustration, difficulties, physical or psychological harm, or raise anxiety or fear in a fresher or other student should be held responsible for their actions.
Asking a student to perform an act that they would not typically perform and that might cause them to feel ashamed, tortured, or embarrassed in order to negatively impact their physical or mental health, as well as the physical health of other students, is considered unacceptable behaviour.
Any act by a senior student that blocks, disrupts or disturbs the routine academic activities of any other student or a fresher; abusing the services of a fresher or any other student for fulfilling the academic responsibilities allocated to an individual or a group of students
Any act of physical abuse, including any kind of it, any act of financial extortion or forced financial burden placed on the firstyear or any other student by other students:Sexual assault, homophobic attacks, stripping, coercing indecent and obscene behaviors and gestures, imposing physical harm, or posing any other risk to an individual's health.
Any act of abuse, whether verbally or by written communication, such as posts, emails, or public insults, that also includes getting a perverse sense of pleasure or a sadistic thrill by actively or passively taking part in the humiliation of new students or any other student
Cancellation of admission
Suspension from attending classes
Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process
Withholding results
Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
Rustication from the institution for period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters
Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution.
Collective punishment: when the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure on the potential raggers.
The institutional authority shall intimate the incidents of ragging occurred in their premises along with actions taken to the Council immediately after occurrence of such incident and inform the status of the case from time to time.
Courts should make an effort to ensure that cases involving ragging are taken up on priority basis to send the correct message that ragging is not only to be discouraged but also to be dealt with sternness.
